Dr. Wayne Goodall continues his discussion on how to deal with problems within the family

Hello my name is Dr Wayde Goodall and I want to thank you for your time to listen to me as I talk to you about your marriage. I believe in the world today one of the greatest joys of life is being married to another human being where it's a husband and a wife that has this relationship that lasts for a lifetime.

But every marriage goes through challenges, every marriage has difficulties and I want to tell you why you have "Storms in Your Marriage," why I have storms in my marriage and what you can do about it.

Why are There Storms in Marriage?
1. Some marriages are not built on the foundation of Truth.

There's a story in the Bible where Jesus tells this illustration, this example of how two builders were building two houses. One builder built a home on a rock, on a solid foundation. The other builder built a home on sand. Both of these homes Jesus tells the story, had great storms that came against their homes. One of the houses fell down because of the hurricane or the rains that hit that home. But the other home stood.

And then the example is given to us as our life, as our marriage. Why do some marriages make it? Some marriages don't make it. They have the same issues they have the same kinds of pain that comes to their home. But why do some not make it and some do? Well let me tell you why. This is why Jesus gave us this example. If our lives and if our marriage is not built on a solid foundation of truth, of Biblical truth, of examples that the Lord has given us from the scripture, then we don't have our lives built on solid foundations. They're only built on philosophical arguments. Educational things that aren't really truth when we have the scripture that is eternally true. So build your life on a solid foundation.

Jesus said that we need to be aware of the storms that will hit our life. All of us have storms. All of us have issues. All of us have problems. And in marriage we know that that's true. So all of our marriage, I mean the moment we get married, there are issues that can come into our home. And so we said be aware of the storms.

Why are There Storms in Marriage?
2. People question the idea of marriage.

And what are the storms today? People are questioning even the whole institution of marriage. Why get married? Why not just live together? Why be committed for the rest of your life? What is marriage? Is it a man with a man? Or a woman with a woman? You see these are storms that are not true really for your life. If you don't build your life in your marriage on solid foundational truths, eternal truths like marriage is between a man and a woman. Marriage is commitment for the rest of your life. Marriage is believing that you have a God that gave you this spouse. Build your marriage on truths then the storms will not affect your lives. So be aware of these storms but also be aware that trials that you will go through. These hurricanes that will come against your life. All of us have trials, but we have a God that cares for us when we go through our trials.

3. People are unaware of the times in which we live.

And then number three be aware of the times that we live in. These are very curious times. These are times where the whole institution of marriage as I mentioned is being questioned. But marriage is created by God. Four times in the Bible, this institution of marriage is mentioned to us as it important. In the beginning God created man and woman. And when you become married, you leave your mother and your father and you remain committed and connected for the rest of your life. What a great gift marriage is. Understand we live in unique times. You know what? If your life and your marriage is built on a solid foundation, you will not only succeed in your marriage but you'll get better at it.

This is Dr. Wayde Goodall talking to you about marriage matters and how to have a healthy marriage in these times.

Closing Thoughts...
I want to thank you for listening to me as I've talked to you about your family. And I also want to remind you that God created your family and God created you. The best way to make your life work is to be connected to your creator. The scripture tells us that if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead you will be saved. When you do this you'll get connected to the creator. I want to pray with you right now to be connected to the one that created you and your family. Would you pray with me?

Father, I give my life to Jesus Christ today. Help me to be different. I believe that he died for me and he rose physically from the dead. I ask you to forgive me of my sins. Thank you and I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen

Now if you've prayed that prayer with me and you want to pray even more with another person, hit "yes" on your computer screen and you'll be able to pray with another person. If you have more questions, and all of us have questions, God's good with your questions, I want you to hit another button, "I still have more questions." We would be thrilled to answer you. Thank you for praying with me today.

God bless you. I'm Dr. Wayde Goodall.
